Flight Attendant Todd Flies Out Of China With One Million Dollars!

Yes it is true.  The schemer schemed his way to victory in China.  22 year old Todd Herzog was able to scheme, lie and backstab his way to a 1 million dollar payday.   The vote ended up 4 for Todd, 2 for Courtney and only 1 for my personal favorite Amanda.  Basically when all was said and done, Todd was ready for the jury, had answers for everyone, gained respect from the Jury for playing the “game” and playing it off as it was just a game an nothing personal.

Todd was only 14 when Survivor premiered and since then studied the game and knew what he was doing.  He got an alliance from day one (which all of us Big Brother fans know did not work for Kail in Big Brother 8) and kept someone weaker close just in case. (Courtney)  His planned worked like a charm.  The only complaint I have at the end of the reunion show was…WHAT IS UP WITH YOUR HAIR?!?  Oh my….

Anyway…James was voted the most popular member of Survivor China and walks away with 100,000 dollars.  Not bad for looking good and not being smart enough to play the Hidden Immunity Idols that he had!  UGH!!  Denise the Lunch Lady was gifted 50,000 dollars from Mark Brunett (who I am guessing can afford it quite easily) for sharing a story about how she is no longer a lunch lady but a janitor now and not able to be with her family for meal time and all she wants is her job as a lunch lady back.

Ironically, there have been reports (thanks Big G) that he statement seems to have been a little misleading…

Press Release: Mrs. Denise Martin
December 17, 2007
Douglas Public Schools

On the “Survivor China” television program that aired on December 16, 2007, Mrs. Denise Martin, an employee of the Douglas Public Schools, stated that she was demoted from her position as a cafeteria worker upon her return from taping the show. This statement is false. In fact, Mrs. Martin held a full-time position as a custodian prior to her participation in the series, and she returned to this same position upon her return from China. Mrs. Martin was granted – at her request – an unpaid leave of absence so that she could participate in the “Survivor” program. We were pleased and excited to support Denise, and have enthusiastically cheered her on throughout the duration of the show.

Although Mrs. Martin was a cafeteria employee prior to her selection as a contestant, she asked to be considered for a promotion to full-time custodian, and was promoted to this position on March 30, 2007. This promotion came with additional benefits and a higher salary. Following her leave, she then returned to this same position.

Regretfully, the Douglas Public School District was inaccurately portrayed as failing to be accommodating to an employee during what the District viewed as a “once-in-a-lifetime” opportunity. This is far from the case. On the contrary, we granted all requests made by Mrs. Martin so that she could participate in the “Survivor” series. Since Mrs. Martin was on an approved leave, her position was held open for her, and she returned to this same position upon her return from China. As a District, we make every effort to support our employees, and will continue to do so.

Nancy T. Lane
Superintendent of Schools

And since this press release CBS News has offered this interview on their website where Denise admits to being a Janitor and not trying to mislead anyone with her comments on the Live Finale.  (she does need a hair cut…..dang mullet)

So after all is said and done, another Season of Survivor, another Season where I guessed WRONG on who would win.

What did you think?  Was Todd your pick to win?  Let us know who you wanted to win and what you thought of the finale!

Peace,  Jeff Probst

  1. I’m personally glad Todd won. You are right, he was ready for the jury and blew away the competition. I actually expected more from the jury (as far as better questions) and expected better responses from Amanda. I certainly didn’t think Amanda would come in 3rd….who knew Courtney would be able to swing 2 votes and come in 2nd.

    Well that’s my 2 cents.

Also Jeff, thanks for keeping this blog open and I look forward to seeing you all at BB9 blog and AI blog.

  2. I am ok with Todd winning….Amanda sort of shut down during the final tribal council. That made me a little disappointed but over all Todd dominated and honestly won a Million dollars during that Q and A session.

As far as the blogs go….

    I am doing 3…

Big-Brother-Blog.com (Sooner Ryan is going to be writing for me once again!)
American-Idol-Blog.com (Sooner Ryan is going to be writing for this blog as well!)
Survivor-Blog.com (I guess it will be me only on this one unless I can talk some other people to help)

I am currently selling Amazing-Race-Blog.com on ebay. Time to move on from TAR I guess. *sigh*

I think Jan and Feb will be awesome with the focus being on these 3 blogs!

    Peace, Jeff Probst

  3. Good Morning Tina…

You know what, I am going to agree with you… as much as I wanted Amanda to win, (Damn, She’s Hot) after watching the Q&A protion of the final on Tivo, I have to say that Todd had all the right answers… Amanda could have stood up for herself a bit more with more direct answers… but even then, Todd laid it all out there… I screwed you, you, you, and of course You… I don’t think he could have answered these questions better… One thing that Amanda did say that bothered me a bit was suggesting that perhaps Todd could have won with out lieing as much as he did… Sorry Amanda, but that just aint possible… if you’re gonna be strategic player who is engineering who leaves the game and when they leave, then deception is your biggest tool and closest friend…

I also agree with you Tina, Courtney getting 2 votes??? geeze… I’ll give her credit for lasting the 39 days, the little engin that could, but that was mainily because of Todd bringing her along… she did win that one comp where being small was an advantage, but other then that, nothing… So I thought one vote, but 2 suprised me…

well, gotta get busy here… but I’ll be lurking around…

  4. And then there was one. :) I’m glad all the spoilers were wrong, and I was surprised by the ending. I think I’ll quit spoiler searching for next year. It took something out of it for me.

Great job on the blogs, I imagine we can still discuss TAR here until the season wraps?

  5. My Shopping for the most part is done… as for spoilers, I tend to like them to a degree, but it does take away some of the suspense…

as for TAR, it will be back on Sunday and from a Spoiler I saw, they may be in Florance Italy which I am looking forward to because I visited Italy last March, including Florance… What a Great Trip!!!! too may tourests of course, I I was one of them and I would go back in a second… as soon as the bank recovers of course… ;)

anyway, it should be fun to see where they run around to and say, I remember that place…

well, gotta get busy again, so till later, Here’s Lurking At Ya!!!

  6. Good Afternoon all! been doing inventory this week….oooh too many numbers runnin’ ’round my head. but i did manage to come in to the office and watch you tube during my son’s hockey practice–watched thursday’s episode and part of the finale( up to and part of the immunity challenge)…it amazes me how many win survivor(and other shows) without winning challenges!

hope i have the tv all set up by the time TAR rills around on sunday!

gotta go………..i’ve been informed that lunch is over1

    see ya!

  7. I watched the interview with the (former) Lunch Lady…. If I know anything, I know that she would have rather been anywhere other then answering those questions… CBS did a split screen interview with Denise and an HR rep from the school district… and let me tell you, watching Denise squirm is no pretty sight… I wonder if CBS were to now tally the viewers on the shows most popular players, what would the totals say about her popularity? The thing I don’t understand is why she did it… she never said that they MOVED her, but the story was spun in that direction… her career moves which happened well before she left for China had no bearing on what was going on in the show… to me, that makes no sense, but after we all though it was all said and done, it did add one little bounce of drama…

That being said, I hope everyone is haveing a better day then Denise… ;)

  8. Where did you see the interview G? I would have liked to seen her explain herself out of that one!

    Is it Friday yet?? :)

  9. Thanks Big G. I’ll have to watch it at home, work blocks so many videos from me. I hope you all have a Very Merry Christmas holiday. :) I have to work Christmas Eve ugh!

  10. work on Christmas Eve… I thought only Santa did that… sorry… me, I took a day of vacation…

anyway, while you’re watching the video of Denise, also Google the term “Jingle Bombs” and find Achmed the Dead Terrorist singing Christmas Songs… Really Really Funny… Really!!!

So Tina, I also hope you have a very merry Christmas and being the Naughty Girl you are, that Santa rewards in a naughty way… ;)

  11. Yes Big G, I’m here on Christmas Eve, and I’m out of vacation days so that wasn’t an option. However the powers that be just sent us an email saying we can leave at 3pm, so that’s something. :) Although I will be picking up my daughter from the airport at 4:30 and I work right by the airport so it isn’t that big of a deal to me!

Anyhow thanks for the Christmas wishes, as naughty as they are. I would imagine you have some coming your way too, hope you and yours have a great day!

  12. Good Morning All (Tina)

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, at least till the bills show up… :)

So any thoughts on unday’s TAR??? I thought the Mr. Murphy had his law working overtime on both the Goths and TK & Rachel… I mean even thing that shouldn’t have gone wrong was not working… a a couple that seemed to have their act together even fell apart (the goths).

I still favor TK and Rachel… of everyone out there, these two do not argue… please TAR, don’t prove me wrong on this… when Rachel forgot the clue, they serached, they went back… they lost tons of time… then it was TK’s time to screw up looking for the word for their next destination… here again, he was frustrated beyond belief, but Rachel just encouraged him on and patentily waited… throughout all this, there was no arguing, there was no finger pointing… there was NO fighting… imagine that…. I can’t remember when a team faced this this much going wrong, handeled it so well… anf thats why I am pulling for these two…

just my two cents… we got enough for a beer yet??? :)

  13. I would be happy for TK and Rachel to win, happy if the Goths win, but please don’t let Nathan and Jen or Who’s your Daddy and his daughter win, or even Gramps and his grandson…yes TK and Rach and the goths had their fare share of bad luck, and I just knew the goths were going home and Phil pulls out a speed bump in the future and sends them on their way. I imagine that can’t be good for them in the future. I thought TK was NEVER going to find that word “Vinci”. I mean hello, we went that way last time, lets go a different way this time, it can’t be that far away. I felt very frustrated for them. But they acted like civil people and didn’t lose their cool.

I had a good Christmas G, hope yours was too. It just seemed all rushed this year, I like when I get more than one day off for Christmas! :)

Tina (I think we have enough for 2 beers now)

  14. I know…nothing is on anymore. I can’t wait for January and especially February. The only thing I’m watching now is TAR, and that is 3 days off.

Is tomorrow Mother’s Day or no?

but let me tell you, all the damn holiday mothers are are joining the crowd and do they ever want a lot of me… :( oh well, (not so) easy come, easy go…

Not much to add today, just waiting for my TAR fix on Sunday wondering if the goths will overcome their speed bump… Today should be a quite day at work, so I am gonna study and work on my Resume… Thats my goal for the new year, finder a new job with new challenges and allows me just a bit of time during the day to blog on BB and the next Survivor… probably even American Idol… that of course will have to be part of the offer letter… :)

so till later, I’ll be Lurking About…

  16. good luck on the resume….I’ll be around lurking so watch what you are lurking at. ;)

    have a great weekend.

  17. Yay TK & Rachel

I was really glsd to see them win and looking at the remaining teams, I have to say they are the favorites to win it all now…

as for the Gohs, geeze… Believing in Karma as I do, I am never to fond of somone using that “U-Turn” option in the game… but the fact that they used it on a team that was ahead of them was just funny… they knew Nate & Jennifer were behind them, and even though I don’t like it, that would have been the smart play…

as for Nate & Jennifer… when the race is over, so are they…

Now that its down to 4 teams, next week will be a non-elimination round and keep the final 4 an extra week, then one more elimination round in two week and then the F3 run for the money…

Again, asuming that TK & Racael don’t screw this up, they are the team to beat at this time… and breaking away from the crowd as it showed in the preview could be great strategy or doom… time will tell…

I will miss the goths, they were a fun team and I can’t help bu wonder if having to run back to get the correct receipts was what sent them home???

  18. I was so happy for TK and Rachel as well. I would have preferred the Goths to knock Nathan and Jen out of it though.

My favs of what is left in fav to least fav order:

    TK & Rachel
    Grandpa and grandson
    Who’s your Daddy and Christine
    Nathan and Jen

Although Who’s your daddy only surpasses Nathan and Jen because of Christine (hope that is the right name), I feel so bad for her, he’s an absolute pig to her.

I agree, I’ll miss the Goths, they were fun!

How’s your NYEve going G? We both need new jobs that don’t require us to be at work so often! lol

  19. Here’s an Update on Survivor’s own Lunch Lady and the fate of the $50K…

‘Survivor: China’s Denise Martin to donate Burnett’s $50,000 to charity

After already apologizing for “misleading” viewers about her job in the Douglas Public School District, Survivor: China castaway Denise Martin has decided against keeping the $50,000 executive producer Mark Burnett decided to give her after hearing her fake sob story during Sunday night’s live reunion show broadcast.

“I would like to apologize to Mark Burnett, Jeff Probst, CBS, [Douglas superintendent] Nancy Lane, the Town of Douglas and my friends and family. It was not my intention to mislead anyone,” said Martin in a Wednesday statement released by CBS.

“I take full responsibility for my actions and hope that you can find it in your hearts to forgive me. I do not feel comfortable about accepting the $50,000. I would instead ask that it be donated to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. Please accept my apology. I would also like to thank all the people who have supported me through this experience.”

Martin was billed by CBS as a “lunch lady” throughout Survivor’s recently concluded fifteenth season, however during the reunion show she said she lost that position upon returning home from filming in August.

“I went back and I talked to the food service director, and they didn’t give me my job back,” said Martin. “So I ended up having to go — I’m a janitor now. I clean the toilets, I wash the floors of the bathrooms, I vacuum the kids’ rugs. I miss dinner with my family. I haven’t been to a field hockey game yet. I’m missing out on a lot more than I originally had planned on doing.”

“The original reason was they said it was too distracting,” Martin continued. “The kids all come in — everyone in the school comes up to me and everyone is like ‘Hey, how you doing’ — all the third graders walk by me in the afternoon [and] they’re like, ‘Hi Denise,’ ‘Hi Denise,’ ‘Hi Denise.’ One-hundred and twenty-five of them walk by and every one of them says ‘hi’ to me, so I still — it’s emotional, I mean I miss my job. If anybody out there is looking for a lunch lady on the day shift, you know give me a call.”

Several minutes after Martin explained the circumstances surrounding her job, host Jeff Probst announced that after being moved her story, Burnett had decided to give her $50,000 to help her “get [your] life the way you want it.”

“I’m not kidding: Just now on a break, he said to let Denise know that Mark Burnett is going to give Denise $50,000!” gushed Probst.

Margaret Reed, chairperson of the Douglas School Committee, told Reality TV World on Tuesday that the district received thousands of “hate-filled emails” from around the world following the reunion show, which is what prompted them to speak out. Lane appeared as a Tuesday morning guest on CBS’ broadcast of The Early Show, in which Martin also participated.

Lane said Martin was only transferred to the custodial position after she applied for it — and in addition to representing a significant promotion, Martin began the new position in March, several months before she filmed Survivor: China this past summer.

After having her false tale called out on Monday, Martin first apologized for it on Tuesday.

“It was not my intention to be misleading,” said Martin during The Early Show appearance. “Nancy has been outstanding to me. She has done everything possible. She gave me a leave of absence [to participate in Survivor]… I appreciate everything that they’ve done. I’m sorry. I apologize to everybody. Believe me… I couldn’t say I’m sorry enough.”

While Martin danced around the issue of whether or not she planned on keeping the $50,000 during her The Early Show appearance, she did say it was not her intention to scam Burnett.

“I had no idea I’d be rewarded that,” said Martin. “Mark Burnett Productions has been outstanding to me… I’ve had such a great experience with CBS. Like I said, I did not intend it to come across that way. I love my town, I love my community.”

  20. Whew, TK & Rachel almost lost it last night.

My thoughts….anyone but Nathan and Jen would to win. TK & Rachel are my favs but I fear what the speedbump might do to them next week.

Regarding Nathan and Jen, yes he pushed her in the car and he has the attention span of a goldfish if being in a cab with a driver prevents him from listening to what Jen has to say upon just completing yet another task while he sat on the sidelines. Yes she babbles on too much but he is a jerk imo.

G, did you watch? Anyone still out there?

  21. Nate and Jen — But they Love Each Other… Can you spell Train Wreck???

as for TK & Rachel, I smell a proposal coming… even when it looked as all was doomed, they played on and had a good time… they do seem right for each other and it wouldn’t suprise me if TK pops the question when ever their part in the race is finished… And even though they were 3 hours behind (Stupid Flight) everyone else, it looks like all the teams will bunch up again next week, so all they have to do is get through their speedbump, and hope that Nate and Jen have a melt-down… or gramps slows down… Im rooting for the melt-down, to me, its just extrat entertainment… :)

  22. lol….here’s to a meltdown too!!! A proposal would be awesome. They can probably get thru anything if they’ve gotten thru the last few weeks (however long TAR is). JenNathan need to part ways and fast. I don’t think they will make it on the same flight back to America (unless they are winners ugh), without hurting someone.

So is the finale 2 weeks from last night? (the 20th?) How about that new Survivor?? Looks pretty promising. I’m going to have to do a lot of recording with AI, BB, Survivor…its going to be fun. I wish we’d get a sneak peek at the new housemates in the Winter Edition of BB. Hopefully they weren’t forced to pick some awful folks because they were crunched for time.

    Have a good evening G.

  23. Happy Mothers Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Busy, Busy, Busy, Busy, Busy…

Anyway, I have a prediction… and this is not a Spoiler, just what I think is gonna happen…

TK & Rachel will win TAR…

Why do I say this??? Besides being the most deserving EVER in the history of TAR, they seem to be the best team remaining… Now I realize they still have to overcome their Speed Bumb, but the last one we saw was just a cultural expirence and didn’t seem to consume too much time… But mostly, last weeks show where they came in so far behind the other teams, the producers game them a nice bit of Air Time at the end showing them calmly going through there challenges… never arguing, no finger pointing, just having a nice time… Since the race has long been decided and the producers know who won, could this bit of air time be a way of showcasing the eventual winners???

and lets face it, does anyone want Nate and Jen to win??? No, and in the final dash, gramps and daddy are not gonna be able to out run anyone…

now regardless of who wins, I’ll bet that TK asks Rachel to marry him explaining that the race confirmed everything he believed about her… Rachel of course will accept… So the final episode I think will be HUGE!!! 2 weeks left…

Spoilers…. I understand that the next stop is Taipei Taiwan and then they finish up in a small town outside Anchorage Alaska…

  24. It looks like you could be right, and I hope that you are. They have been giving a lot of positive airtime (damage control) to Christina and her dad as well. And they clearly kicked butt on last nights show. I mean they were seriously on their game. Also, TK and Rachel were on top of things and worked excellently together, overcoming their speed bump and arriving 2nd. :) I was so happy!

All I can say for Nate/Jen is Happy friggin birthday Jen lol. They should seriously and I mean with all my heart SERIOUSLY go their separate ways.

Gramps seems really tired even with his grandson carrying his bag most of the time. I think in the end if its close and they are having to run, TK & Rachel will outrun Christina’s dad.

I’m hoping for that ending, and it would be a nice topping if TK proposed.

Jen was extremely nasty with her comments last night, even moreso than normal, totally not necessary.

So is next week the finale?

    Less than a month to BB9. :)

  25. Im thinking that Jen & Nate’s Sex Life must be out of this world incredible… for the life of me, I can’t think of another reason they would put wp with each other… and regardless of how good their sex life might be, Im glad to see them gone… although not the whinest of TAR teams, they in the top 5…

I am not suprised at all by sunday nights results… I would have bet money that those two would have had a melt-down along the way… I can’t say that’s what caused them to loose, but Karma was at play here… and to loose on Jen’s birthday, I’ll bet that’s not the spanking Jen was looking forward to… :)

As for the final 3 teams, they are the most deserving… even the whos your daddy team has come a long way… In the end, I still think it TK & Rachel’s to loose… and I still think there might be a proposal at the end…

  26. Hey Big G,

Who’s Your Daddy has calmed his sharp tongue down, and I was laughing out loud when Christina told the ticket agent to tell the others the flight was full. That was great! Who would have thought she’d cooperate??

When Jen said to Nate, you make the decisions because YOU are the man, I just cringed. OMGosh, he’s obviously NOT the man for her and vice versa. They have been explosive with each other throughout the whole season, but I am glad they are gone.

Gramps isn’t getting as much edit time as Christina/Dad & TK/Rachel so I’m betting it will come down to those two teams. I haven’t searched for any spoilers on the finale…..YET. lol I may just want to be surprised….or not. :)

Tomorrow night is A.I., and will you be watching? Will you be joining in for the AI Blog?
